Armoured vehicles engineered for fleets that can't afford to fail.
BAT designs, fabricates and fits ballistic protection for cash-in-transit and guarding fleets, in-house, from raw steel to road-ready.
Trusted by leading cash-in-transit and guarding operators across South Africa — and exporting armoured solutions across Africa and beyond.
Every stage happens on our own floor.
Most armourers outsource fabrication, electrical work, or paint. We don't. Keeping every stage in-house is how we control quality, lead times, and cost of ownership — the three things fleet operators actually get measured on.
Design & prototype
3D scanning captures the base vehicle. Our team designs the armour in SolidWorks and checks the fit before fabrication.
Fabricate
Two laser cutters, dedicated welding bays and full metal preparation in our own workshop.
Electrical & systems
Wiring looms and electrical assemblies built in-house for consistent fit and fewer field failures.
Assemble, paint & integrate
Vehicles and third-party equipment are integrated on one line, with finishing in our full-size spray booth.
Maintain & refurbish
Full repair, refurbishment and kit-transfer capability to extend the life of your fleet.
Built around how your fleet actually operates.
Every platform is specified to the threat level, route profile and vehicle base your operation runs — not a one-size-fits-all kit.

Monocoque Bodies
The UD corner carries high-value loads in an integrated armoured body designed for demanding rifle and blast threats.
Explore monocoque vehicle →Security & Locks
BAT designs and builds its own vehicle interlock in-house — the only vehicle armourer in Africa to do so.

The same base vehicle can serve different roles depending on its cab protection and rear-body configuration. These examples show where each platform fits.
Valuables in transit
Our Hino trucks and canopy-equipped pick-ups are configured for secure valuables transport. The Hino 500 handles the largest loads; the Hino 815 is a substantial step below it, with the Hino 614 for smaller loads. The UD Quon is another large-load platform.

Monocoque protection
The UD corner is a monocoque vehicle for high-value loads. Its integrated body is designed for demanding rifle and blast threats, with the final protection specification matched to the operation.

One core objective: protect the people inside.
Every cab-kit is designed specifically for the vehicle model it's fitted to, in-house, and built to provide strong ballistic protection while preserving how the vehicle drives and works.
- High-grade imported armour steel
Only imported, high-grade steel is used in every cab-kit.
- Optically correct bullet-resistant glass
Locally produced, meeting the appropriate international standard for each application. A single-piece curved windscreen is available on certain pick-up models.
- Prefabricated armoured cab capsule
The original windscreen is replaced with flat bullet-resistant glass and anti-spall material, glazed into an armour frame. Gun ports can be included in the design.
- Hydraulic cab-tilt access
A hydraulically operated lift ram tilts the armoured cab for normal access to the engine compartment.
- Separate armoured rear body
For valuables-in-transit operations, a dedicated armoured body is mounted directly onto the chassis behind the cab.
- Partially armoured & cut-resistant load bodies
Cut-resistant or mild steel load bodies for pick-ups, housing single or multiple vaults, with an air-conditioned compartment for crew members.
- Transferable load body
The entire rear load body can be moved and re-fitted to other vehicles sharing the same load box dimensions.
- Dual-sided rear-seat safe
An armoured safe built into the rear seat space of a double-cab pick-up, freeing up the load box — popular where discreet security matters most.
- Anti-tamper covers for bulk cargo
For couriers and FMCG operators, armouring the full load body isn't practical — it costs too much payload. Anti-tamper covers protect against unauthorised access instead.
- Client-specified accessories
Emergency lights, sirens, public address systems, mesh screens, snorkels and more, fitted to your specification.
- Standard designs, flexibly modified
Full one-off custom designs aren't usually practical given the cost and time involved — but our standard designs flex to accommodate almost every request.
Truck & cab-kit platforms
Discreet armouring for your own bakkie.
Most of our work is for CIT and guarding fleets — but we also armour individual vehicles for private owners, farmers and executives who want real protection without the vehicle looking any different on the outside. Finished in the factory livery of your choice, badges, trim and ride quality untouched. For double-cab owners wanting extra discretion, an armoured safe can also be built into the rear seat space rather than the load box — see engineering details above.
Toyota Hilux

Steel is the foundation. These are the extras fleets ask for next.
Armour protects the vehicle and the crew inside it. These add-ons help you see what's happening around it — useful whether this is your first armoured vehicle or your fiftieth, and all fitted alongside your build so there's nothing extra to schedule later.
Geolocation Tracking
Live vehicle location and route history, so dispatch always knows where the fleet is — and can prove it after the fact.
Gunfire Detection
Acoustic sensors that flag a shot fired at or near the vehicle in real time, triggering an alert without the crew needing to react first.
Duress & Panic Alerts
A discreet, driver-triggered signal straight to your control room when something's wrong — no need to stop or speak.
Cargo & Door Monitoring
Sensors on cash boxes, doors and compartments that log every open and close — useful for both security and audit trails.

We build in South Africa. We fit kits wherever you operate.
Shipping a fully finished vehicle across borders adds cost and delay. Instead, we can manufacture your armour kit in Germiston and fit it to your base vehicle in-country — cutting freight costs, import duty exposure and downtime.
Where we've worked
Across the whole of SADC, into West Africa, and beyond the continent — armour engineering doesn't stop at the South African border, and neither do we.
- Local fit-out
Kits engineered and cut in Germiston, fitted to your vehicles in-country by BAT-trained teams.
- Lower landed cost
Shipping components instead of finished vehicles reduces freight, duties and lead time.
- Consistent standard
Every kit is engineered to the same specification, wherever it's ultimately fitted.
We don't publish client names — for the same reason our clients don't publish their routes. But the numbers speak: BAT has armoured close to 1,000 vehicles for one client alone, alongside long-running work for multiple guarding companies nationwide.
If a reference is needed for a tender or due-diligence process, we can arrange that directly and privately.
Your fleet's armour has a second life. We manage it.
Cost of ownership doesn't stop at delivery. Our repair and refurbishment shop keeps existing fleets compliant and on the road — including transferring armour kits onto new chassis when it's time to replace the base vehicle.
- Scheduled servicing
Routine inspection and upkeep of armour systems, locks and electrical, on a schedule that suits your fleet.
- Full refurbishment
Restoring older armoured vehicles to current standard.
- Kit & body transfer
Moving proven armour packages onto new base vehicles or chassis.
- Parts supply
Dedicated parts warehouse for fast turnaround on repairs.
